The Mathematics program at the Faculty of Science and Technology, Syarif Hidayatullah University of Jakarta, is dedicated to advancing research across a spectrum of disciplines, encompassing both pure and applied mathematics, as well as cutting-edge areas such as data science and artificial intelligence. Within the realm of pure and applied mathematics, our faculty engages in research spanning Dynamical Systems, Finite Element/Difference/Volume methods, Functional Analysis, and Mathematical Modeling. These endeavors contribute to the foundational understanding and practical applications of mathematical principles in various scientific and engineering domains. 

 

Our expertise extends to the realm of Actuarial Science, where research pursuits encompass General Insurance, Pension schemes, Life Insurance, and Mathematical Finance, addressing pertinent issues in risk assessment, financial modeling, and insurance analytics. Additionally, our program fosters research in (Big) Data Science and AI, addressing critical challenges in today’s data-driven world. Our researchers delve into innovative methodologies and algorithms to extract meaningful insights from complex Social Media Analytics studies, especially related to religion. Through continuous scholarly inquiry and dissemination in both national and international arenas, our academic community is committed to advancing knowledge and fostering innovation in mathematics and its interdisciplinary applications.

Pure & Applied Mathematics

Pure and Applied Mathematics research includes studying Graph Theory, Algebra, Dynamical Systems, Finite Element/Difference/Volume methods, Functional Analysis, and Mathematical Modeling. Our research aims to deepen our understanding of fundamental principles and apply them practically in various scientific and engineering fields. Data Science

Our Data Science RG is currently one among few in the world that has legal access and academic dataset repository to more than ten years of data related to religion discussions in several social media platforms and mainstream digital media. Our research data consists of structured data such as dates, locations, number of engagements (likes, mentions, shares, etc) and also unstructured data such as videos, text, images, & sounds. Our RG is an active group with research focus on studying social behavior in the digital world, as well as proposing cost-efficient big data solutions for academics and SME.
